da fezbet: Christmas time is upon us, folks. We are nearing those days of chatter with the family and numerous people asking quite what you’re ‘up to’ in life. Yes, that’s right, it is a challenge for who can spin the longest tale about how they have their life all planned out perfectly when, of course, none of us really do.
da brdice: Aside from that, we all get a bit of time off work, which is jolly good fun, an excuse to eat grotesque amounts of food and, most crucially, the opportunity to devour countless turkey and stuffing sandwiches without anyone being able to question it. Then, to top it all off, the Premier League ups its game with countless fixtures spread across the festive period.
What more could you want, really? Football and food, it’s as good a combination as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen or Gareth Bale and Andre Villas-Boas.

David Who?
It’s Tottenham legend, David Bentley! Back in 2008, Bentley scored an iconic volley against Arsenal in one of the all-time great Premier League encounters. The match finished in a dramatic 4-4 thanks to late goals from Jermaine Jenas and Darren Bent, but Bentley’s strike was undoubtedly the moment of the match.
Bentley’s great talent was never realised, but at least we have this memory. The former Arsenal youth player retired at the age of 29 having said he had fallen out of love with the game. Now an owner of a restaurant in Marbella, his life has moved on from football.
The Stat
We all know that Spurs’ squad is built around a clutch of talented youngsters, but these numbers really show just how far they have to go. TransferMarkt measures their players’ values to be streets behind several of their rival top six clubs at this point, for instance.
Ambitions for Spurs this year might just have been inflated after all. Looking at these digits, it’s hard not to sympathise with the pressure Pochettino was under a month or so ago. Sitting outside the top four at this point, Spurs are doing as we would expect, really.
Growth is the aim for the Lilywhites at this point, and Pochettino should be applauded for his results.
The Answer…
Gareth Bale, Younes Kaboul and Rafael van der Vaart
What a trio this is.
Three White Hart Lane heroes netted against Arsenal back in 2010, with Rafael van der Vaart’s goal coming from the penalty spot. A rare victory to be savoured by Spurs fans across the world, there’s nothing quite like a North London Derby goal to make yourself a hero.
Gareth Bale is still sorely missed by the Lilywhites, but at least they have the memories. The glorious memories are plentiful with Bale, of course, but few will be sweeter than this one. There are a fair few corkers of Bale’s to be remembered by Spurs fans, though, yet that’s probably a list for another time.
