da luck: Now that England have finally stopped boring us all to death, we at FootballFanCast are delighted to turn our attention back to the Premier League.
da apostebet: And the English top flight is coming back with a bang in the form of the North West Derby – which kicks off on Monday night.
It remains, arguably, the most hotly-anticipated fixture on the Premier League calendar, combining high-quality football, controversial refereeing decisions, intense atmospheres and dirty tackles in a way not many other matches in English football can.
Liverpool and United fans aren’t exactly on the best of terms – in fact, quite the opposite.
Nonetheless, neither group of supporters are ignorant enough to completely overlook the ability of the opposition. So earlier this week, we asked Manchester United fans to choose which Liverpool stars they’d like to see Jose Mourinho launch a shock swoop for.
The results are now in and FootballFanCast can exclusively reveal the top five Liverpool stars United fans want at Old Trafford…
5. ADAM LALLANA
Perhaps due to his great start to the season, notching up three goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances, a fair number of Manchester United fans wouldn’t mind their club poaching England playmaker Adam Lallana. Unfortunately, however, (well, unless you’re a United fan) an injury picked up prior to the international break could rule him out of Monday’s game.
4. ROBERTO FIRMINO
Combining the traits of a midfielder and a forward, there’s plenty of roles fourth-placed Roberto Firmino could take in Manchester United’s starting XI – not least including Wayne Rooney’s spot at No.10. The Brazilian’s mobility and energy is a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s game-plan and tellingly enough, he’s bagged three goals in six league outings this season.
3. NATHANIEL CLYNE
With winger Antonio Valencia currently filling the void, right-back is a real problem area for the Red Devils in the long-term. That perhaps explains why the otherwise unspectacular Nathaniel Clyne claimed third place in our poll, whereas more natural talents – such as Daniel Sturridge – surprisingly missed out.
2. SADIO MANE
Sadio Mane’s energy and scintillating speed are symptomatic of the Premier League and represent two assets United currently lack in the final third. The Red Devils were hot on the then-Southampton man’s heels a few years ago and it appears the supporters are still keen to see him at Old Trafford one day. Three goals and one assist in six Premier League appearances speaks for itself.
1. PHILIPPE COUTINHO
Widely viewed as Liverpool’s most gifted and important player, it’s no surprise to see Philippe Coutinho top our poll. The Brazilian playmaker is a real match-winner, capable of scoring screamers from long range or creating chances for his team-mates out of nothing.
