da pinnacle: Valencia president Manuel Llorente has confirmed that his club have received an approach from Manchester City for Spain midfielder David Silva.
da lvbet: The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave the Mestalla this summer, with Los Che's star striker David Villa having already tied up a move to Barcelona for next season.
Both Manchester City and United have been linked with an interest in Silva, with Llorente admitting that the Citizens have already made contact.
He commented:"The news is true.
"City got in touch with us to ask for a meeting, but then they informed us that they could not come and that they intend to do so a little further down the line."
Meanwhile, Valencia head coach Unai Emery has set his sights on challenging Barcelona and Real Madrid next season, despite the loss of Villa and the likely departure of Silva.
He told AS:"The goal is to make a competitive team, to be in the top places in the league, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
"I would not settle for finishing third next season, I like to compete.
