The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland has shared some Everton injury news before they host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this afternoon.
The Lowdown: Aston Villa knock
Doucoure unfortunately picked up a knock in the 2-1 loss away at Aston Villa last weekend, and had to be substituted off just after the half hour mark.
He has missed a chunk of games for the Goodison Park outfit through injury over the past couple of seasons, and so naturally supporters would have been fearing the worst when he was forced to come off.
The Latest: Three weeks out
Taking to Twitter, Boyland has shared that although fellow central midfielder Allan is back fit and in the squad, Doucoure is facing ‘around three weeks’ out on the sidelines:
“Doucoure should be out for around three weeks. Allan back fit and in the squad.”
The Verdict: Big blow
Even though Allan is back fit, losing Doucoure is still a big blow for the Merseyside club.

He has ranked highly among his teammates in terms of average aerial duels won, tackles, shots, dribbles and pass success per game in the Premier League so far this season (WhoScored), and is clearly key to Frank Lampard’s system.
Doucoure is now likely to miss important matches against fellow relegation strugglers from last term Leeds United, as well as the Merseyside derby at home to Liverpool, in which the Toffees would have surely wanted him to start in order to buff up the spine of the team.
