Tottenham are just six points off a Chelsea side who look incapable of finding the form of the first few weeks of the season.

“It’s there for someone to pull off a surprise and our win at Arsenal gives us great confidence.” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
This season has provided so many shocks, but this Tottenham side is more than a shock. They depth to their squad is outstanding. When Redknapp has a full squad to choose from, only Manchester City could boast a stronger squad. Tottenham have goal threats from all over the pitch. They have the capability of changing things up from the bench. The introduction of Defoe on Saturday changed the game. He gave the Arsenal defenders something different to think about. Although he didn’t impact the game in terms of scoring a goal – he frightened Arsenal. That is the strength of Tottenham squad.
If Tottenham are their in the hunt come January, it wouldn’t surprise people if Redknapp made a few tweaks to his side to push them on. They need a few more players to win the league, but they are not far from it. If Tottenham can bring in at most, two high calibre players it will lift the whole squad. If they can qualify from their Champions League group, bringing in a few players could help ease the burden on their top players. The reality is the calibre of players they need to sign to win the league this season will be cup tied, but that could in fact help Tottenham. They can change their squad from week to week, without damaging the quality of players. A real Tottenham title charge would need a few extra signings – but without a doubt the north London club are going places.
The next couple of weeks will define Tottenham’s season. They play two crucial Champions League games, sandwiched between these crucial ties come a home game against Liverpool and an away trip to Birmingham. After The FC Twente game, they face Chelsea. With the quality in their side who would bet against them qualifying from their group and picking up at least seven points in the Premier League games. They have the quality to do it, last season they beat both Arsenal and Chelsea at the end of the season. The worry for fans must be that they could beat both Liverpool and Chelsea but come unstuck against Birmingham. Tottenham will need to win these kind of games if they can mount a successful title challenge.
Tottenham haven’t sat back this season. They have added to their squad, and added real quality. The signing of Rafael van der Vaart shows the ambition of both the club and the manager. Tottenham have a real chance of winning the league this season. Chelsea and Manchester United are not as strong as they have been, so why not? Come April, if they are in the hunt, there is nothing to suggest that Tottenham couldn’t win the Premier League.
