da esoccer bet: The start of this season has highlighted a real deficiency in Everton’s squad – a lack of strikers good enough for the Premier League.
da apostaganha: With Romelu Lukaku not starting either of the Toffees first two league games new manager Ronald Koeman has resorted to playing Gerard Deulofeu up front and as good a player the Spaniard is, he’s not an out and out striker.
Meanwhile it seems as though Arouna Kone has been deemed not good enough, though he did score against Yeovil in the League Cup whilst Oumar Niasse has had a torrid time at Goodison Park since his arrival in January.
The evidence suggests then, that the Merseysiders will be looking for new attacking options, so we’ve decided to take a look at the THREE strikers they should be aiming to bring in before the deadline…
Shane Long
Everton were linked to Southampton striker Charlie Austin but they’d arguably be better off going for his strike partner.
Long would give the Toffees the option to get the ball over the top with his pace and allow the team to stretch their opposition.
Koeman obviously knows him too and so would be able to help the Irishman bed in quickly as well as in the opposite direction Long helping the Dutch manager get his tactics onto the pitch as he knows his playing style.
Lucas Perez
The Deportivo forward is one of the best in La Liga outside of the obvious three super-powers.
At the age of 27 he is in his prime so would immediately boost the team’s striking options especially given he scored 18 goals in 37 games last season.
He’s being linked with the club too by The Telegraph, so there must be some interest on Everton’s behalf and given relatively little is known about him in this country they might be in with a chance.
If they do sign him it could prove to be a master-stroke.
Manolo Gabbiadini
Gabbiadini started his Napoli career well but it began to fizzle out – well many players’ would with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain around.
The Italian then, may fancy a change and with the Toffees needing options up front, he’ll have more chance of starting than if he stayed in Naples.
The Serie A club signed Arkadiusz Milik to replace the departed Higuain so clearly don’t see Gabbiadini as first choice. Their loss could just be Everton’s gain
