da dobrowin: Newcastle fans have reacted to the latest twist in their attempts to land Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United, and it’s fair to say they are not happy.
Chronicle Live report that Newcastle have yet to stump up the required fee to land Rafael Benitez’s top target, with Atlanta demanding around £25million, while the player wants wages of £100,000-per-week. It follows claims from the Daily Mail that Newcastle are currently £8million short of the Atlanta’s asking price.
The Magpies have never spent over £20m on one player, with Mike Ashley famously stingy in the transfer market, and Chronicle Live claim the club view the demands as “astronomical”.
Almiron has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Atlanta, however, scoring 21 goals and providing 21 assists while playing in MLS.
And several Newcastle fans have urged the club to simply pay up as they look to land their first signing of the January window and boost their chances of survival in the Premier League, with the club only two points clear of the drop zone.
