Phillips has been one of the club’s star players this season, so fans were baffled when he sat on the bench against Brentford in one of the most important games of the season.
Adam Forshaw was the preferred choice for the game at Griffin Park and he didn’t have the best of games as Brentford’s forwards continuously got the better of him.
Fans were confused further on Tuesday night as Phillips lined up for the youth team in the Premier League Cup semi-final against Newcastle’s U23 outfit.
The Yorkshire club have two games left in the Championship, and they need to take as many points as possible if they are to finish in the top two come the end of the season.
With the high number of injuries the team have suffered this season fans couldn’t believe that Phillips was risked at such a vital part of the campaign.
