da doce: Sheffield Wednesday fans have been sent into a frenzy this week after Owls boss Garry Monk made an interesting revelation into their short-term goals for the season.
da bet7: Speaking to the Sheffield Star, the 40-year-old claimed that making the playoffs was never the number one priority as there is plenty of work to be done to steer this sinking ship around.
“I don’t think that was ever really the number one aim. Of course, that’s the ambition and we all want to fight for it. We’re going to fight for it. But if I’m honest at the start of the season it wasn’t an ambition for anyone, realistically. That’s not to say we shouldn’t be fighting for that, we are.”
It has led to a range of discussion on social media from sections of the Hillsborough faithful.
Here’s what has been said…
Many took a swipe at the manager as they felt that his team selection, tactics and substitutions were to blame for Wednesday finding themselves in such poor form – it’s just one win in eight league outings now.
One supporter compared him to former ex-boss Jos Luhukay whose time at Hillsborough didn’t last very long whilst another brandished him “negative” and “uninspiring.”
As a result of these remarks, some fans have started to doubt whether Monk is the right man for the job.
However, others put the blame on chairman Dejphon Chansiri, demanding that the club reduce ticket prices as they aren’t being ambitious enough.
One member of the Owls faithful labelled this news as a “Chansiri scam” with another throwing weight behind that argument by claiming their ticket prices were “eye-watering.”
The club were also lambasted as being poorly run and as a “joke.”
To add balance to the discussion, a couple of supporters found his hard to disagree with Monk’s sentiment as the players are the ones who are letting the south Yorkshiremen down.
The Owls are now six points from the playoffs with just 14 games remaining in the season, it’ll take an awful lot to turn this around but given their bid to bolster the squad in January, anything could happen between now and May.
Who is that?! Nobody has been able to name the teams all of these obscure managers were once in charge of…
