da bet7: With three wins out of three in the Champions League so far this season, Liverpool have another clash against Atletico Madrid on the menu this evening at Anfield to see if they can get one over on Diego Simeone’s side again after beating them 3-2 in Madrid last month.
da pixbet: Speaking ahead of the match in his latest press conference, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are in contention to play after returning to training on Monday.
However, Naby Keita will be out of action for a while as a result of the hamstring injury he suffered at the weekend during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, as well as James Milner.
With this in mind, here’s how we feel Liverpool could line up this evening.
In goal, we see no reason why Klopp would take Alisson Becker out of the side given how he’s played in the majority of Liverpool’s games so far this season.
Ahead of the goalkeeper in the defence, we think the only change Klopp will make from the back four that started against Brighton will be one that sees Joel Matip come in ahead of Ibrahima Konate who was described as being a “little slack” on occasion in terms of his distribution and decision-making during the Brighton clash by the Liverpool Echo.
In midfield, if Fabinho is deemed fit enough to start, we think it would be worth the manager starting him alongside Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The latter replaced the injured Keita at the weekend and managed to make the most out of his opportunity to play by grabbing an assist and a solid overall match rating of 7.2/10 according to SofaScore, leaving Curtis Jones out of the team and on the substitutes bench for this occasion.
For the attacking front three, we think Klopp will stick with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on the wings given the duo have 16 Premier League goals between them so far.
However, in a similar fashion to Konate, we feel that Klopp will take Roberto Firmino, who is currently earning a weekly wage of £180k-per-week according to Spotrac, out of the team and replace him with Diogo Jota, given how the Brazilian failed to register even one shot on target against Brighton.
He was in poor form as he won just three out of the 11 duels he was involved in, ultimately earning himself a fairly uninspiring overall match rating of 6.5/10 from SofaScore. Thus, we are keen to see if Jota can help the Reds break down Atletico’s defence taking into account how they managed to keep a clean sheet in their latest La Liga match against Real Betis.
