da bet7: Liverpool have been linked with a move for Matheus Nunes since last summer and now a new update has emerged on another club joining the race to battle the club for his signature.
What’s the latest?
da prosport bet: According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Chelsea are preparing to compete with Liverpool for the signing of the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder.
As per the report, Nunes is on a list of potential targets for Graham Potter with Chelsea looking to rebuild their midfield in the summer just like Liverpool and his services are expected to cost the Premier League giants at least £55m.
FSG must act now
There is no doubt that Liverpool in desperate need of reinforcements in the centre of the pitch and it will become even more of a pressing issue at the end of the season when a number of midfielders will be out of contract and free to leave Anfield.
Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner – as it stands – are all heading for an exit from Merseyside and recruiting well in the summer will be essential for getting Liverpool back on track next season.
As a result, the signing of Nunes would be a great piece of business for the Reds in their pursuit to bring fresh perspectives and more energy into the middle third, with a move for Jude Bellingham already mooted.
Over 17 Premier League appearances, the 24-year-old – hailed a “big talent” by journalist Jack Lang – has delivered one assist, tallied up an 83% pass completion rate and successfully completed 50% of his dribbles, as well as averaging 1.7 tackles, 1.2 shots on goal and 4.4 duels won per game.
Not only that, Nunes ranks in the top 20% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for dribbles completed, touches and progressive passes received.
The Portuguese ace is an all-rounder who can affect play at both ends of the pitch which would give Liverpool’s midfield a real boost as manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of players who have a good work ethic on the pitch and can drive the ball into dangerous positions.
With that being said, FSG must act now if they want to get ahead in the race to secure Nunes’ signature this summer, as losing out on another midfield target could be detrimental to the rebuild plans and set Liverpool back even further.
