Wigan Athletic could miss out on the signing of Antolin Alcaraz even though the Paraguay international signed a pre-contract agreement with the Latics last month.
The 27-year-old Club Brugge defender was expected to move to the DW Stadium on a Bosman free transfer.
However, Alcaraz now appears to be considering his options after hinting that several other clubs were interested in securing his services.
"Yes, there is a preliminary agreement that we signed, but there is the possibility that we can realise other options," he was quoted on Paraguayan sports radio station 780 as saying.
"In fact at this point I don't know where I am going. Obviously, my performance at the World Cup has complicated things.
"I want to do the best for me. There have been offers made, but for now I cannot talk about them as nothing is signed yet.
"At the moment, all the teams that have showed an interest have a chance of signing me."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
